is a popular, widespread activity in which competitors perform dances in any of several permitted dance styles.
At City-Limits we strive to be the best. Our competitive pupils enter regional competitions across the country.
Dancers who compete at these regional competitions are usually dance students ranging in age from about six to eighteen years old. We also arrange for their classes to compete as groups. Advanced dance students often compete solo or in small groups (e.g., pairs and groups) in addition to competing with their dance class groups (teams).
Competitive dancers must be physically fit because even short dances can be physically demanding. Also, dancers must continuously train to maintain and improve their technique, balance skills, strength and flexibility. Competitive dancing requires dedication as many months may be spent practicing dance and developing dance routines.
Currently, we offer competitive practice in Street Dance. We hold a class every Saturday 1-2pm £5.00 pp
. In this class, we work at a higher level, pushing students to reach their full potential wherever possible. Our students have established themselves high up in the competitive ranks of Street Dance, winning numerous trophies for all categories: Solos, pairs, groups and teams.
We currently attend medalist and UDO competitions
Not only are competitions fun but they are a great way of making new friends and learning new moves & styles. We often have outside groups and specialist teachers popping in to help out with the class! Competitive dance is an excellent way of improving confidence in young people.
